Reminder: This is an ULTRA LOW BUDGET FILM. Although it may look glossy on the outside and we're doing everything within our means to elevate the film and process, our team is still up-and-coming while being mentored and learning along the way. We don't believe that lack of privilege to multi-million dollars or studio backing should ever silence underrepresented voices. We're doing our best to provide accomodations and perks, partnering with yoga studios etc. to try and make this not *feel* like ULB and show so much gratitude for our team members working with our ultra-low rates. We want everyone to feel proud of this film and time committed towards it.

Project Overview:

“I Need You to Stay” is a psychological thriller told through the eyes of a girl with Borderline Personality Disorder, but at its heart is a tragic love story grounded in the harsh reality of her healing journey.

This is the first feature narrative to combat the Hollywood stigma surrounding Borderli
ne Personality Disorder. BPD has the highest su*cide rate of all disorders, is actually treatable and individuals are statistically more likely to be victims of abuse than the abuser… yet Hollywood continues to depict characters either coded or explicitly labeled with BPD within the context of being murderous obsessive stalkers, unstable villains, “bunny boilers”, an excuse for undesirable behaviors… and monsters. This stigma bleeds into our culture, media, and even clinical and legal settings to discredit victims.

We've partnered with non-profits, are fiscally sponsored, have received the Washington Film Works Small Budget Initiative, and have assembled a board of advisors to turn this “monster” trope on its head.
We have also created educational and social impact programs to operate alongside the film including on-set therapists and supports.

Story:

Close to graduating treatment for Borderline Personality Disorder, Kira relapses and makes a wish that accidentally infects her girlfriend, Luci, with a mysterious plague.

As Luci grows more and more ill, starting with a cough and growing to black bruises, she begins to transform and embody all of Kira’s greatest fears and shame about herself… a monster.

Kira must overcome this inner shame and self-hatred to save the love of her life before they lose each other forever.

Style:
Surreal, Artistic Dark Drama

**This role is NOT intended to provide individual therapy, but rather provide crucial on-set coaching and crisis management during filming to help cast and crew safely return to work.

We are seeking to partner with a rotation of local trauma-informed therapists who are passionate about supporting survivors of sexual abuse and willing to donate some of their time to support our cast and crew if needed. Duties would consist of on-set crisis management and support during filming to aid our cast and crew to safely get back to work . Due to the sensitive nature of the script, and our pledge to hire survivors of Hollwood sexual abuse, this will be the first time that many people are returning to work after their traumas and may need some additional support.

The on-set therapist/mental health coordinator is a flexible voluntary position. This means we can cover travel and lodging, but unfortunately don't have it in the budget for an official day-rate as we're negotiating partnerships with local clinics.

Due to this, the position will be flexible though as far as days whether it be a couple days that work with your schedule, attending all the days but with blocked out hours (so you can still see your personal clients in a private room during production), being put on a rotation schedule with other providers, or opting into being on-call or virtual for crisis management or wellness check-ins. We are open to other ideas too such as official partnerships with your clinic in which we would cross promote, include in credits, potential casting in union acting roles, and even have product placement/advertising options within the film!

We know the rate is very low and have provided additional perks and protocols to help off-set the low cost

Requirements:

  • Licensed, trauma-informed therapist

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and create a non-judgmental space.
