what is predatory behavior?

ˈpre-də-tȯr-ē  bi-hā-vyər [noun]: Any misconduct that utilizes an uneven power dynamic, social privilege, authority, position or situation to sexually abuse or exploit others.

The behavior can be legal or illegal.

The behavior can be intentional or unintentional.

94%

of women in the industry reported experiencing sexual misconduct

21%

have reported being sexually coerced or assaulted

10%

of men in the industry reported being sexually assaulted*

*Men's statistics are wildly underreported

behavior-based training

What is the reason for separating the behavior from the individual?

When the focus is on the individual, personal judgement comes into play. Judgement causes the silencing of people who are targeted. The nuanced nature of predatory behavior is not fully realized, resulting in many cases going unchecked.

Isn't it important to call out people who engage in the behavior?

Amazing organizations, like our partner Hire Survivors Hollywood, are committed to justice and by supporting those who are targeted by illegal Predatory Behavior.

Our purpose is to educate and empower the entire spectrum of predatory behavior.

But don't we want them to feel ashamed?

We absolutely want the behavior to change. However, Shame-Based Culture can suppress, but often does not alleviate the behavior, resulting in retaliation.

The ability to listen and be critical decreases after being called out. Especially if the behaviors were unintentional.

Eliminating shame sparks conversations for change.
